I have not posted here for a long time but if anyone is still interested in laser reproduction of 8 bit photographic images you just
have to try out UCCNC. This software feels just like the next generation of Mach3 and because it is still under development it just keeps getting better and better every day.
These are some of my recent trial laser engravings.

Something that may be of interest...
I always have my CNC software 'up and running' before applying power to my CNC machine (others may rely on the charge-pump).
To power my Motion Controller on with my PC I use the following simple circuit...
