I am able to make the problem almost go away if I slow it way down. The picture on the left is done with M11P1 / M10P1 commands and the right picture is with the C-0,0001 / C0.0000 the IPM is at 25 I turned up the heat for the shadow to show right side and it is to hot for the rest. also the left side I am still able to see the same problem although it is quite small. The Acceleration is 2.5 and Velocity at 100 the Mach3 Version is R3.043.062
details laser power CHINA ???? see picture. I have mounted a cooling fan to the top of the laser power supply. I can see real good what it is doing but I haven't got a clue what to do about it. I suspect that the laser power supply needs to have a adjustment with a 9 lb. hammer
Thanks Jerry

Jerry,
Your acel. seems on the slow side to me.  What happens when you increase it?

On my belt drive machine (similar to your's), I'm running 150 velocity and 100 acel. with some reserve left.
John

Look Look Look at this!!!!
What you said made a difference I'm at 120 and 30 and that is maxed out, unless I change my kernel speed but I don't know what I'll be getting into.
Thank you
Jerry
PS: I got about 16 extra butterflies, if you need any.

Hi Jerry,

Because you still had the problem running the Butterfly at high speed when using the M11P1/M10P1 command set, this indicates to me that your laser is definitely not turning off quick enough. Running this test rules out it being anything to do with the PEP settings so it is perhaps time to review your electrical connections.
How is your parallel port laser trigger pin connected to your laser PSU ?.
Is it a direct connection or do you have other things connected to it ?

Tweakie.

Hi Tweakie
John pointed out that my Acceleration and Velocity might be to slow. When I turned it up things started working good. I have it maxed out in Mach3 for my machine without changing the Kernel speed. It is a lot slower than Johns machine but it is a lot better now ( 120 velocity 30 Accel. ). The M11P1/M10P1 and the C-0.0001/C0.0000 command set will run at speeds between 50 and 100 IPM now. I have been using this speed and changing the laser amps to control the darkness of the project. I am not sure how high I can run the laser tube but I have been trying to keep it below 10 M-Amps. I think I will try the Mill picture once more to see if it has improved.
Thanks for your help.
Jerry

Thanks Jerry

Thank you, Jerry,
I'm very happy to see your progress and share in your success in some small way.

Now, not to be overly critical, but it appears that you are getting excessive smoke residue on your image.  Adjusting/changing your smoke extraction system should give you even better images.

Again, congratulations on your achievements.  BTW, you should also post your video of your fantastic clock project on the forum, too.
John

As John says, stunning work indeed Jerry.

I am really pleased for you - it has been a bumpy road getting there but your persistence has paid off in the end.

Jerry,
Where have you been.  Quiet here lately.  Waiting to see your latest.

I did this one today with some development software I'm playing around with.  Size is only 3.7" x 4.5".  Took 39 minutes, a big improvement over what it used to take.

John, that come out very fine! Seems like the original picture was just turned into a sepia, not easy to say the difference.

Dual 445nm laser diode running at a set feedrate of 225IPM, .004" pixel resolution @ half power. Engraving is 9" X 7.2" and took 1hr 35 mins. Based on my 1W mini laser engravers power and performance, this build is outputting 8W+ by intersecting the 2 beams.

Jeff,
Good Show. respect Thinking as I type (dangerous, I know crazy ), I am wondering if you could remove the red pointer laser and replace it with a third laser, would the power be too much for the machine?

I ran a quick test this evening with my new PEP development software to measure shading improvements.  The wood is cheap utility ply that burns rather easily, but has a darker color than birch ply.  I will do more testing with different settings  and better wood to see if shading will improve even more.  I'm confident it will.
