Just to see how it performed I did create a Mach3 Laser toolpath for the SquiggleDraw example - the Gcode would take about 50 minutes to run and I have not yet had time to try it.
Unfortunately the Gcode file is just too large to attach here but if anyone wants it then, for the next 30 days, it can be downloaded from here; squiggle5

The SquiggleDraw example is in .svg format and this can be converted to .dxf and in turn Gcode. Example; squiggle6.zip

Run; SquiggleDraw.pde
Click; Get Started
Menu; Sketch / Import Library... / Add Library...
Select; ControlP5
Install.
Close window.
Menu; Sketch / Run
Have fun.
(Your saved .svg file can be converted to Gcode in Inkscape or other CNC vector software such as Aspire9).

I am really not quite sure why anyone would want to laser engrave a photographic image onto a piece of wood in the first place but, trust me, once bitten it does become addictive.
This was an 8 bit image, raster scanned, where the laser output power is controlled by the individual pixel value converted to a PWM duty cycle signal (0 - 100%).
